    I’m curious why did you guys change the harness style?

    • @gdb_official
      @gdb_official 2 роки тому

      Harness styles have evolved over the years as innovative materials and style options became available. We are always working to ensure that the harness is lightweight, but durable and comfortable for both the dog and the handler.

    I used to work with German shepherd dogs Labradors and those type of dogs so I guess it might be easier for me to cope I'm sure it will be life changing for me a guide and a best friend really ...it's scary when you lose your vision especially outside...terrifying but I know I will cope

    Hi Guide dogs for the blind, thank you for this wonderful video. I am a guide dog handler from Australia, waiting for my second dog. These are some of the most basic tips that I think are not widely enough shared. Thank you for this video.

    raised a guide dog puppy when I was in Middle School. It was an amazing experience. The most memorable experience of my teenage life. Hope to someday have a job that allows for that someday.

      Hi, I'm new to all of this and thinking about this as an SAE option. I'm not sure yet but, what do you do? I feel like I wouldn't be capable.I know I could possibly be, I just don't know how to teach dogs and I am just entirely new to the whole concept. Hearing that you've done it before, Would you mind telling me about it and explaining it a little to me, and what its like? You don't have to if you don't want to but I would appreciate it. Thank you!

      @@thenorthstar777 hey! It’s been a long time since you commented this, but i recently finished up raising a service dog for a different organization and I am looking into raising for GDB. A bit about my experience: it is a wonderful, difficult, and rewarding experience. I went into it not knowing anything about raising dogs, but the organization really helps you. They teach you how to teach them. I was doing school from home, so i can’t speak about school life with the dog, but it worked out fine and there was a great balance. definitely look more into it!

    It’s nerve racking if your dog isn’t on the phase report though! Everyone in the club is like “Maybe there was a mistake, he might show up next week?”. We all encourage everyone else

      Zohaib Khan As raisers we are given a manual with specific instructions on raising. Everything from when to get what shots, how to teach the commands and behaviors expected of guides, and housebreaking. There is really no leeway for introducing a new technique.

      Hi there Emiliano! If you have signed up to be a puppy raiser, your club leader will work with you on the details of the puppy delivery. Typically our puppy trucks have set stops throughout their driving routes and raisers come to those locations to pick up the puppies.

    This is great to see as being a puppy raiser because the 8 weeks of a puppy's life before they come to our homes is a part we know very little about. The work of the staff and volunteers that take care of the puppies at this age is so appreciated to ensure healthy puppies come to us and then are returned later for formal training. Every little piece of the puzzle is an intricate part in making a successful guide dog team.

    Yikes. ..... this video reeks of scare tactics.... I have a service dog and I have had instances where other dogs have attacked. .. I thought this would be more helpful instead of trying to make handlers fear other dogs...... smh

    My main disability is that I have cerebral palsy. My secondary disability is that am legally blind however I do wear glasses. My question even though your school fouses mainly on gudie dog trainning, etiquette, and manners (in public and not). Are the rules basically the same for a service dog in terms of the greeting?

    I really enjoyed watching this video. Even though I'm not actually blind. I was also born with a visual impairment too. I do wear glasses. I have cerebral palsy a mild form. However I do have a service dog. It do you have any videos on service dog attacks if so, could you please send me the link on how to respond to service dog attacks too. I do not live in California but I do live in Ohio. Thank you

    I have a guide dog puppy and I love her so much. I don't want to give her up, but I know I have to and that it's the right thing- her new owner will love her more than I don- for giving her a gift that nothing else can; sight.

    Thank you for this. Although I am not blind, I use a trained service dog. I was physically attacked in an elevator on the MBTA, and the responding officer told me the woman who hit me had a right to self defense, because I should not have brought my service dog into the elevator.

    Sometimes not being able to see quite well has it's advantages... For example this really horrifying video... Makes me appreciate even more, if that were actually possible... Gerard, Fleming And Heather... My three wonderful partners over the past 18 years that much more... I'm glad everybody involved at least on guide dogs side are okay... How is the guy that had the accident? I hope he's alright too and I hope you wises up in the use of his vehicle

    Thank you so much for such an excellent job at describing these video clips... I had heard something about the story earlier in the week and last night I finally got to take a look at the video but there was no sound as is obvious and I could not tell quite what was going on except there was a lot of blur and motion and stuff V.
